My name is Tobias. The Tyrolean mountains are my home.

For many years I worked as a youth and street social worker, most recently in a managerial capacity.

Even as a small child, I was fascinated by the solar system, the universe and the starry sky. As a teenager, I often went out on full moon nights – by bike, on a sledge or on touring skis.

When I lie under the starry sky and feel the earth beneath me, I feel a deep connection with the universe and everything that is.

Since 2021, I have turned my passion for starry skies into my vocation and, as sternenguide.tirol, I offer Stargazing Tours with telescopes in the Tyrolean Alps.

Tyrolean Nature- and Hiking Guide

I have been a trained Tyrolean Nature Guide since 2019 and work independently for the environmental education association Natopia and the Karwendel Nature Park, among others.

In 2020-21, I completed further training as a star guide through the Tyrolean Federal Environmental Ombudsman's office in the SKSYCAPE project. I am a member of DarkSky Austria, the Austrian branch of DarkSky International, an organization that works internationally against light pollution and for a natural night sky.

As a Tyrolean Nature Guide, I have a great deal of experience and enthusiasm for communicating about nature, whether it be with school classes, families or adults.

As a Tyrolean Hiking Guide, I have the necessary alpine expertise to offer Stargazing Tours at selected locations in the Tyrolean Alps.

Playful Wonder

The dimensions and proportions of the universe are difficult for the human mind to grasp.

But what if we imagine the Earth as a soccer ball? How big would the moon be then? And how far away on a soccer field would the two be from each other? How big would our sun be then? And why does the Earth have a “luxurious moon”?

My Stargazing Tours are about being amazed in front of the incredible miracle of the universe and our life in it on planet Earth. In understandable language and in a playful way, the bigger picture becomes clear.
