Do you have specific areas of interest in the night sky or would you like to tailor the tour to a special occasion? We will discuss your wishes in detail in advance . This is the usual course of a Private Stargazing Tour:

In the first part of the tour, you will learn how to find your way around the night sky using a laser pointer and listen to beautiful star stories from all over the world. There will be plenty of time to bombard me with any questions you might have about the starry sky.

In the second part, you will delve deeper into space with a professional telescope and astronomical binoculars and practice observing planets, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies yourself in your private group. This part is open-ended: as long as there is motivation and nobody gets too cold, we will also observe!

Observation sites

The Private Stargazing Tours take place at partner huts in the Tyrolean Alps: the Labalm near Aschau, close to Kitzbühel, and the Alpengasthof Lüsens in the Sellrain Valley near Innsbruck.

Both are located in dark valleys, far from populated areas, and offer excellent panoramic views. Each are directly accessible by car (toll road to the Labalm: €5.00).

Both mountain inns offer excellent regional cuisine and on request a hearty dinner before the Stargazing Tour is possible (not included in the price).

Key information and prices

Date, meeting point and time:

will be arranged when you book the tour. Since only a limited number of dates are available per season, I kindly ask you to send me an enquiry before booking.

Duration of the private star tour:

depending on the interests of the participants, approx. 2.5 - 4 hours

Number of participants:

maximum of 15 people

Group price:

flat rate of €590.00 for up to eight people

(excluding dinner, travel costs for participants and tolls)

Each additional person: €25.00

A second telescope will be provided for groups of ten persons or more.

Special price for couples or up to two people:

flat rate of €390.00 including two deckchairs, blankets, two glasses of sparkling wine and a hot drink

(excluding dinner, travel costs for participants and tolls)

For Private Tours at other locations, additional travel costs may be applied by sternenguide.tirol depending on the travelling distance.

What happens if it's cloudy?

In case of heavy clouds or rain, a Private Stargazing Tour will not take place.

Therefore, an alternative date is arranged for each Private Stargazing Tour on the following day. Three days before the main date, a decision is made based on the weather forecast as to which of the two days is likely to have better weather conditions. So, for example, if a Private Stargazing Tour has been arranged for a Friday, this decision will be made on Tuesday.

Ideally, though, the decision on whether to actually carry out the Private Stargazing Tour will not be made until the afternoon of the day itself. At this point in time, the weather forecast is most reliable. However, if you wish, an individual time for notification in advance can be arranged here according to your needs. If the weather is also not suitable on the following day, the Private Stargazing Tour will be canceled.

In case of cancellation or interruption before or during the tour due to bad weather, there are three options:

1. Alternative date:
   If the Private Stargazing Tour cannot take place on either the main or the alternative date due to bad weather, an alternative date can be arranged at no extra cost.
   
   If it is not possible to find an alternative date in the same year or if you do not want one, you will receive a 100% refund of the tour price.
   
   If the agreed alternative date for the Private Stargazing Tour is also cancelled due to bad weather, you will also receive a refund of 100% of tour price. There is no provision for an additional alternative date on the following day in this case.
   
   
2. Bad weather during the tour:
   Even the best weather forecast is sometimes wrong and there is no hundred percent guarantee for clear skies in the Tyrolean Alps.
   
   If a Private Stargazing Tour takes place and the participants have no lasting opportunity to observe the starry sky through a telescope due to changing weather conditions in the second part of the tour, you will receive a 50% refund of the tour price.
   
   
3. Cancellation or termination by participants:
   If you cancel a Private Stargazing Tour, cancellation policies will apply depending on when you cancel. Please note my terms and conditions in this context.
   
   If you and your group decide to terminate a Private Stargazing Tour early due to poor visibility or similar, the right to a refund expires. Therefore, I strongly recommend staying until the end of the tour. Often, the sky unexpectedly clears and great observations are possible. Otherwise, you will receive a refund of 50% of the price of the tour (see para. 2).

Cancellation conditions Private Stargazing Tour

If you do not show up at the event as agreed or if you cancel the Private Staragzing Tour within a certain period of time before the event, the following cancellation conditions will apply:

• Up to 1 month before the event: no cancellation fee
• Up to 2 weeks before the event: cancellation fee of 25% of the tour price
• Up to 76 hours before the event: cancellation fee of 50% of the tour price
• Within 76 hours before the event: cancellation fee of 100% of the tour price

However, should something come up – you never know what life has in store – please get in touch with me and we will find a solution, be it rebooking for another date, issuing a voucher or a refund as a gesture of goodwill.
