Do you have a class of astronomy enthusiasts? Can't your students get enough of planets, the solar system and the like? How about your class observing the rings of Saturn, the red spot on Jupiter, the craters on the moon or the sunspots live through a professional large telescope at your school? Accompanied by interactive games and exercises that make the unimaginable dimensions of the universe tangible and understandable?
Then get sternenguide.tirol to your school in Tyrol!
This program focuses on the planets, their characteristics and their relative sizes in the solar system.
In the school gym, we use balls of different sizes to represent the solar system. How big would the moon be if the Earth were a football? And how far away is it from the Earth?
We use LED lights to identify the most important constellations in the sky and play games to learn how moths, bats and fireflies find their way around at night.
The evening's highlight is observing the “major planets” of our solar system – Jupiter, Saturn – and the moon through an electronically controlled 20-cm telescope.
The evening can also be ideally combined with a reading night on the topics of the starry sky or nature at night.
An alternative program is offered in case of bad weather.
The sun is the center of our solar system. Every minute, it radiates unimaginable amounts of energy onto our planet Earth. Without it, life on our planet would not be possible. However, this energy also has the power to destroy – when focused through a magnifying glass, but also through an unprotected telescope or binoculars.
We will learn how a sundial works and how the position of the sun changes with the seasons.
The highlight of the morning is observing the sun through a special solar telescope. This makes sunspots and other solar structures visible to the human eye.
An alternative program will be offered in case of bad weather.

A place with an unobstructed view to the south (school garden, parking lot) is a prerequisite for observing with the telescope. If this is not possible, sternenguide.tirol will find a suitable place near the school.
For the games and exercises, access to the school gym and/or a school garden and sports balls of different sizes are an advantage.
For the bad weather program, a screen, a white wall or ceiling in a room that can be darkened well is required – sternenguide.tirol will bring his own mobile planetarium.
Postponing the school program due to bad weather is, unfortunately, not possible due to the limited number of dates in a school year.
If observation with the telescope is not possible on the day in question due to cloud cover or rain, an exciting and varied alternative program takes place at a reduced price:
With a mobile planetarium, sternenguide.tirol projects the current starry sky onto the ceiling of the classroom and the mythological constellations with their most beautiful stories come to life. With digital three-dimensional planetary models, we take a journey through the solar system and to distant galaxies.
Games and exercises in the gym give an idea of the size ratios in the solar system and the life of nocturnal animals, even when the weather is bad. The bad weather program lasts about 2 hours.
If you decide to cancel the school event in bad weather, cancellation policies come into force. In this context, please note my terms and conditions.
If you cancel a school event at short notice, the following cancellation conditions will apply:
However, should something come up – you never know what life has in store – please get in touch with me and we will find a solution, be it rebooking for a different date, issuing a voucher or a refund as a gesture of goodwill.
